K-Literature with Author Min Jin Lee
The Korean Cultural Center Washington, D.C. welcomes best-selling author Min Jin Lee for a K-Literature talk exploring challenges of the writing craft, the topic of Korean immigrant experiences in her work, and her upcoming writing projects. Lee’s talk, “Heart's Desire: Love and the Late Bloomer,” will touch on the love of one’s dreams that are difficult to attain. The event will include a book signing, Q&A, and light dinner reception with the author.

Lee’s novel “Free Food for Millionaires” (2008) earned her critical success in the United States, England, and – through translation, in Korea. The novel illuminates the experiences of so-called 1.5 generation immigrants – those born in Korea but having grown up in America – and the challenges they face, including financial, educational, and social barriers. It was a No. 1 Book Sense Pick, a New York Times Editor’s Choice book, a Wall Street Journal Book Club selection, a national bestseller, and selected among the Top 10 Novels of the Year by The Times of London and USA Today.
