SM to hold global talent audition


SM엔터, 총 5개국서 '제2의 소녀시대 찾는다'

Korean entertainment mogul SM Entertainment said in a press release yesterday that it will hold a large-scale audition across five countries early next year. Many famous artists such as Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, f(X) and TVXQ (photo above) all belong to SM, the biggest entertainment company in the nation.

“The audition will be launched on Jan. 7 through March 24 in Korea, China, Canada, Japan and the United States,” the press release said. Details for Korean auditions were also revealed. There will be an audition in Busan on Jan. 7, Daegu on Jan. 8, Daejeon on Jan. 14, Gwangju on Jan. 15 and Seoul on Jan. 28 and 29.

According to the release, anyone can try their luck regardless of nationality, age or gender. Contestants who excel during the audition can sign contracts with SM to release albums and the entertainment agency will also support the winners until they debut as professional singers.

“Since many of our singers are widely beloved in North America, Europe and Latin American countries, we expect to see more contestants from those regions,” said SM in the release.

Starting in 2006, SM has also looked beyond Korea to find talent. As a result, SM currently represents a couple of non-Korean musicians - Victoria and Amber from f(X). Victoria is Chinese and Amber is Taiwanese-American.

SM엔터테인먼트(이하 SM)가 내년 초 대규모 글로벌 오디션을 개최한다.

2012 SM 글로벌 오디션은 내년 1월 7일부터 3월 24일까지 약 3개월간 개최되며 한국, 중국, 미국, 캐나다, 일본 등 총 5개국 15개 도시에서 대규모로 펼쳐진다.

특히 이번 오디션은 걸그룹 소녀시대, 아이돌그룹 동방신기를 비롯한 SM 소속 가수들이 아시아를 넘어, 미주, 유럽, 남미 등에서도 높은 인기를 얻고 있는 만큼, 참여 열기가 더욱 뜨거울 것으로 예상된다.

또한 SM 글로벌 오디션 사상 처음으로 일본에서 오디션을 개최하는 만큼 벌써부터 일본 연예계 지망생들의 접수와 문의가 폭주하고 있어, 일본에서도 화제가 될 것으로 보인다.

2012 SM 글로벌 오디션은 국적, 성별, 연령에 관계없이 누구나 참여 가능하며, 오디션 참가자 중 우수자에게는 SM과 전속 계약할 수 있는 기회가 주어지고, 데뷔를 위한 제반 비용은 SM에서 100% 투자한다.
